Sometimes, I freelance for a housewares company in Chicago, and there is a group of very talented designers there, AND I was lucky to spend the evening with two that I admire very much last night. It was so inspiring getting to hang with these ladies, as we listened to Holly Becker of Decor8 talk mood boards at the new (to me) Anthropologie on Chicago Ave. As Holly stated, creating mood boards for clients is an essential part of the design process. Not only to communicate to your client that you understand their vision, but also to keep the design of your event, room, or in my case, invitation, cohesive. Great to meet an inspiring blogger in person. Her new book, Decorate. Sometimes, I get a special client who comes to us first, before deciding the overall theme of their event, and I get to make an inspiration board for them. Here is an actual one we made for pretty in pink, rustic, yet classic, affair.
Just being in Anthro is inspiring! Their visual team is amazing.
Look at the tidbits Sarah, Claudia and I brought for the inspiration board- there was a theme here! and, I was excited to learn that burlap ric rac existed in the world-thanks, Sarah.
We've partnered with Style Me Pretty to challenge their readers to create boards for us to design wedding invitations from. Here are two of the challenges outcomes: a rustic equestrian themed wedding invitation, and a historic, classic navy wedding invitation.
Oh, and I can't talk about Inspiration boards without mentioning Pinterest. I'd tell you to follow me, but I only have three pins. I have to find time, because it love it so much.
