The holidays are called engagement season in the wedding industry, for good reason. Maybe it's the good cheer, the sweet association with what the holidays promise, or just a wonderful way to start the new year, but a high number of engagements occur between Christmas and Valentines Day every year. One source quotes December as the highest month - with 19% of all engagements occurring during it's 31 days. I guess that includes New Years Eve? My husband, Seth, proposed on New Year's Eve, right after the stroke of midnight. With a borrowed ring.
Super sweet. Here we are right after it happened, at Dargan's, the Irish pub he worked at in Santa Barbara. We already had our little Max at this point, and had been waiting for the right moment to get married, but this was a complete surprise to both of us, hence the borrowed ring. I didn't want to give it back to our friend Maren, as it held the promise of what was to come, but hesitantly did, and Seth and I designed our rings with our friend and owners of Fibula in SB. Our wedding planning was done in the same way, quickly, without hesitation, and with our circle of friends surrounding us. Congratulations to all the newly engaged!
