I understood what 735 Flora Vista was just after the new year. I was searching so hard. I knew it was water, flowers, safe and protected. My journal entry from January 16th reads: essence of flowers, young girls, celebrating play, imagination, healing from destruction. To be connected to the girl I used to be - loved, supported, free. To play and give and create. What would I create if there were no rules? It doesn't have to make sense with what I offer now.
I finally understood: Skin care. How we take care of our skin is personal; a ritual we take time for each day, that moment in the mirror connecting to ourselves. Feeling beautiful and taken care of.
I read it again: essence of flowers. Essence: the core, heart, soul, spirit...
The real nature of a thing. Crucial, embodiment.
735 Flora Vista is a hydrating facial essence celebrating the botanicals and people of El Salvador.
It was just the right product to nurture our skin by delivering botanical rich hydration, while connecting to the women and girls of a small community in El Salvador with their most essential need - fresh, clean water. Water for Water. Women for Water. If you want to read more about the community that inspired 735, please look back to part 1 of the story.
What is an essence, you ask? They are rather new to the US, becoming popular in Korean and Japanese skin care a few years back. The NY Times just released an article stating how important they are in our skin care routine. Our essence feels like water, but it's packed full of natural ingredients that deliver essential moisture into your skin, by penetrating the first layer of skin and preparing it for thicker serums and moisturizers. After cleansing, shake a few drops in your hand and press gently into your face and neck. This daily ritual is enhanced by taking that moment in the mirror to breathe in the light subtle floral scent; a hint of jasmine, spice from orange blossoms, and the warmth of honey that I created from essential oils brought back from France. It's that time, that moment in the mirror, breathing in, connecting with ourselves...a daily ritual of self care.
I reached out to a local natural skincare maker, Bonnie to formulate the best ingredients to nourish, hydrate and protect your skin: an extract of Hibiscus provides high levels of antioxidants, such as vitamin C, which has been proven to promote anti-aging and encourage collagen production. Yucca extract promotes skin cell renewal. Raw honey is essential for holding on to moisture and smoothing the skin. Hyaluronic acid has water-storing properties; used topically it helps to preserve suppleness and tone. Aloe vera juice contains 75 active ingredients, which nourish, protect against cell damage, reduce redness, inhibit bacteria growth, and produce collagen and elastin fibers, making your skin more radiant.
I hope you love it as much as I do. It's truly the most important work I've ever created, and can't wait to share it with you! 735 Flora Vista will be available September 11th!
